What a plan visit covers outside
Most of the work happens before your technician reaches the front door. The treated band around the outside of the house is what keeps ants and roaches from getting in, so it gets the time. That means the foundation line and the first few inches of wall, door thresholds, the garage door seal, the lanai slab edge, weep holes, the hose bib, and the point where every utility line and A/C lineset enters the wall.
Eaves get knocked down with a pole duster to pull webs, spider egg sacs and mud dauber starts off the soffit. Wasp nests behind shutters and inside the lanai screen frame come off the same way. While we are back there we look at the mulch line, because mulch banked up against stucco is the most common reason a Tampa house has roaches walking in at the slab.
What happens inside
Interior work is targeted. When nothing is active indoors, opening the door is mostly inspection: under the sinks, behind the toilet base, the dishwasher void, the pantry, the laundry, the water heater closet and the garage. Where something is active, the treatment goes into the cracks and voids where the pest actually lives. That is gel bait in a hinge void, granular bait in the garage, or a crack and crevice application behind a kickplate.
Broad spraying across living space is rarely the answer. It puts product where you walk and misses the harborage entirely.
Why identification changes the product
Ant species decide everything. Ghost ants and white footed ants bud: hit a trail with a repellent spray and the colony splits into several smaller ones deeper in the wall. Those get non-repellent liquids and a sugar bait instead. Big headed ants take a granular bait. American cockroaches call for perimeter work and gaps sealed at the door sweeps. German cockroaches need indoor bait rotation and a return visit inside three weeks. One house, four different answers.
Everything goes down according to its product label. The label controls where a product can be applied, how much goes down, and how long to stay off a treated surface. Ask your technician and you get the product name and its label information on the spot.
Why four visits a year suits Tampa
There is no hard winter kill here. A January cold snap slows things for a week and then it is over, so populations outside the house rebuild all year. That makes the fresh treated band outside worth more than one heavy annual blitz.
Four visits keep that band current and catch small problems during the inspection half of the visit. Homes backing onto conservation land in New Tampa, and anything with heavy mulch plus daily irrigation, sometimes need a shorter cycle for the first few months. We say so at the inspection rather than after the second call back.
